Goal (the)

01 Symbolism is always working towards a
goal, towards completion. The goal
gives direction: without it we become disorientated and unable to face
reality. Journey: traversing a path over
which obstacles must be overcome.
Spiritual and psychological goals which appear as the Promised Land,
Blessed Island, fairy castles and temples etc. A sequence of
incarnations is seen as a ‘journey’.
As a dream
symbol - a wish for change. Initiation rites are in the
form of a series of tests as in secret societies and mystery schools.
02 The Happy Ending: as in ‘They
got married and lived happily ever after’.
As a symbol of the union of the masculine and feminine it is an image of two forces that are
never far apart, never more than momentarily parted. In fairy-tales apart from marrying, the Hero often becomes KI. Indicating complete rule over
the inner realm of unconscious complexes and freedom from the pressures and
compulsions that fetter the will.
03 Fruit of some special tree that grows only in the unconscious and bears golden
apples, silver pears, which may be symbols related to
the golden sun of
conscious rational knowledge.
04 The lance and arrow are
sometimes symbolic of perceiving and aiming for goals.
05 “If the doors of perception were cleansed everything would appear to man as it is –
infinite” (Marriage of Heaven and Hell).
